La Tortuga y la Liebre

Once upon a time, there was a Hare. He was very fast. He liked to run and jump. He was also very proud. He always said to the other animals, "I am the fastest animal in the forest! No one can beat me."
Érase una vez una liebre. Era muy rápida. Le gustaba correr y saltar. También era muy orgullosa. Siempre les decía a los demás animales: "¡Soy el animal más rápido del bosque! ¡Nadie puede vencerme!".

There was also a Tortoise. The Tortoise was very slow. He walked quietly and carefully. One day, the Hare laughed at the Tortoise. "You are so slow!" the Hare said. "It takes you all day to cross the road."
También había una tortuga. La tortuga era muy lenta. Caminaba en silencio y con cuidado. Un día, la liebre se rió de la tortuga. «¡Eres tan lenta!», dijo la liebre. «Tardas todo el día en cruzar la calle».

The Tortoise smiled. "Let’s have a race," he said. The Hare laughed again. "A race? Against me? Okay, let's go!"
La tortuga sonrió. "Hagamos una carrera", dijo. La liebre volvió a reír. "¿Una carrera? ¿Contra mí? ¡De acuerdo, vamos!"

All the animals came to watch. The race started. The Hare ran very fast. In one minute, he was far away. He looked back. The Tortoise was very small and far behind.
Todos los animales vinieron a mirar. La carrera comenzó. La liebre corrió muy rápido. En un minuto, estaba muy lejos. Miró hacia atrás. La tortuga era muy pequeña y estaba muy atrás.

"The Tortoise is too slow," thought the Hare. "I have time for a nap." The Hare saw a big tree. The grass was soft and the sun was warm. He sat down and fell asleep.
«La tortuga es demasiado lenta», pensó la liebre. «Tengo tiempo para una siesta». La liebre vio un gran árbol. La hierba era suave y el sol calentaba. Se sentó y se durmió.

The Tortoise did not stop. He walked slowly. Step, step, step. He was tired, but he kept walking. He passed the sleeping Hare. He did not make a sound.
La tortuga no se detuvo. Caminó despacio. Paso, paso, paso. Estaba cansada, pero siguió caminando. Pasó junto a la liebre dormida. No emitió ni un sonido.

After a long time, the Hare woke up. He looked at the road. He did not see the Tortoise. "Haha! He is still far away," the Hare said. He ran to the finish line.
Tras un largo rato, la liebre despertó. Miró el camino. No vio a la tortuga. «¡Ja, ja! Todavía está muy lejos», dijo la liebre. Corrió hacia la meta.

But when he arrived, he saw something amazing. The Tortoise was already there! All the animals were happy. They cheered for the Tortoise. The Tortoise won the race!
Pero al llegar, vio algo asombroso. ¡La tortuga ya estaba allí! Todos los animales estaban felices. ¡Vítores para la tortuga! ¡La tortuga ganó la carrera!

The Hare was very surprised. He learned a big lesson that day. You do not need to be the fastest to win. You just need to keep going and never stop.
La liebre se llevó una gran sorpresa. Ese día aprendió una valiosa lección: no hace falta ser el más rápido para ganar. Basta con seguir adelante y no parar jamás.
